Lilian Rossum served a bowl of hangover soup to Francis Landau, but she had just handed over the soup when he knocked it over.
Francis then seized her chin, capturing her lips in a kiss.
The scent of alcohol filled the air, mingling with the fragrance of another woman's perfume. Lilian attempted to push Francis away, but he only held her tightly, carrying her straight to the bedroom.
Lilian turned her face to Francis, and Francis’ deep gaze fixed upon her. His fingers lightly traced her cheek as he asked, "Why aren't you speaking?"
Lilian stared back at Francis. Her silence is a known fact. She was mute.
Yet, Francis would ask every time, as if questioning her was a ritual. It often left Lilian wondering if Francis was trying to humiliate her or simply expressing his frustration.
